The former village of Hagiwara-juku (area of Numanohara wetland)History and culture

The village of Hagiwara-juku once stood in the vicinity of the Numanohara wetland. It was a post station, an important place for the exchange of goods between Shinano (Nagano) and Echigo (Nagano). In the 18th century the village was said to have reached 75 homes.
