Kitano Tenmangu ShrineHistory and culture

This is a sub-shrine of a Kyoto-based shrine of the same name; the kami Sugawara no Michizane, the spirit of learning, is enshrined here. Many people come here to pray for success. On August 24, the Kitano Tenmangu Festival is held, with many stalls selling food and other items.
