The Shin-etsu Trail provides a long journey, over not just a mountain path but on farm roads and paved roads, and travels not only in nature but in towns and villages. Hiking it is an activity that connects a wide area through a single path, with no thoughts of it being a “mountain path” or a “paved road.”
For a hiker traveling along such a long trail, the towns and village along the way are an oasis. In these places are not only food, water and other supplies, but the fun of enjoying local food and local culture. The interaction with the local people, too, is what really makes a long trail journey memorable.
This town map has been created by all the hikers of the Shin-etsu Trail.
