Nakafuru Ike pond, Kitafuru Ike wetlandHistory and culture

Nakafuru Ike pond and Kitafuru Ike wetland were originally one large pond. Embankments and tunnels were built to prevent collapse, and the pond was divided into two. The Shin-etsu Trail is set on the banks of the two. Today the pond is still an important water source for people at the foot of the mountain.
